Wheatbelt Steel is a division of the Ahrens family of brands and has been operating for the past 40 years; specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of quality steel sheds. Wheatbelt Steel builds sheds of the highest quality, including machinery sheds, fertiliser sheds, grain sheds, hay sheds, shearing sheds and poultry sheds for farms across Western Australia, with further growth taking sheds to the rest of Australia.
About the Role
As the Production Supervisor, you will lead the Wheatbelt Steel workshop, aligning its operations with company strategies. Your role involves managing the fabrication team, from workload to quality assurance. Mentorship and fostering safe fabrication practices are central, while upholding Ahrens Group values is vital. Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Establish a safety culture emphasizing hazard elimination and genuine care.
- Monitor and encourage adherence to PPE and safe work practices.
- Develop and maintain safe work method statements for high-risk activities.
- Report injuries promptly, aid rehabilitation, and follow company protocols.
- Report safety information in Skytrust and on notice boards.
- Lead prestart meetings, share incident learnings, and uphold safety.
- Provide team leadership, mentorship, and training for efficient and safe practices.
- Manage timesheets, training registers, and workforce competencies.
- Plan fabrication progress, ensure quality control, and manage priorities.
- Oversee stock management, including stocktake and inventory control.
- Seek continuous improvement, develop new skills, and promote efficiency.
- Familiarize with Ahrens' policies, safety, and reporting systems for compliance.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Boiler Maker Qualifications.
- Proficient in high-quality welding and procedures.
- Skilled in structural fabrication and positional welding (vertical, horizontal, downwards).
- Ability to interpret drawings.
- EWP, working at heights, and forklift licenses.
- Team player, responsible, and proactive.
- Adaptable during changes.
- Strong time management with multitasking abilities.
- Desirable: Experience in logistics/warehouse, HR License, First Aid/Fire Warden/CPR training.
