Description

Talentweb is looking to talk with experienced structural engineers regarding an opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Sydney-based team. This role will see you working on a diverse range of building projects, taking responsibility for design delivery, technical leadership, and client engagement across projects of varying scale and complexity.

You will play a key role in delivering practical, economical and compliant structural solutions, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the overall success of the structural team.

Key Responsibilities
Structural Engineering & Design

• Deliver structural designs, calculations, reports and specifications for residential, commercial and mixed-use buildings.
• Apply sound engineering judgement to develop efficient, buildable and economical design solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation and client reports in line with project and regulatory requirements.
• Provide design input across materials including reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, steel and timber (timber experience highly regarded).

Project Management & Delivery

• Manage small to medium projects end-to-end, with involvement in larger projects as required.
• Assist with fee proposals, tender submissions, project programming and resourcing.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Maintain compliance with Australian Standards, BCA, WHS and QA requirements.
• Technical Leadership & Collaboration
• Review and check the work of junior engineers and provide technical guidance and mentoring.
• Liaise closely with architects, clients, contractors and other consultants.
• Attend site inspections and respond to construction-phase queries and RFIs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and technical standards.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering.
• Membership with Engineers Australia (CPEng / NER highly regarded).
• 5-8+ years' experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Strong local building design experience.
• Proficiency in relevant software such as ETABS, SpaceGass, RAM, and RAPT.
• Solid understanding of Australian Standards and NCC/BCA requirements.
• Site experience on at least one building project.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
